About the Song
My Jesus I Love Thee is a poem written by William Ralph Featherston in 1864, when he was 16 years old. Later on, in 1876 Adoniram Gordon added music to it. Adoniram Judson Gordon (1836-1895) was an American Baptist preacher, writer, composer, and founder of Gordon College. Gordon edited two hymn books and wrote the hymn tunes for at least fifteen hymns, including "My Jesus, I Love Thee," a hymn that has been included in nearly every evangelical hymnal published from 1876 to the present time. His most remembered work is probably The Ministry of Healing, a highly revered book on divine healing—physical, mental, and spiritual.[ My Jesus I Love Thee is a poem written by William Ralph Featherston in 1864, when he was 16 years old. Simply, a music sheet is musical composition in printed form. It is composed of unbound sheets of paper where a musical notation of a song is printed. Many associate it with popular music. However, musicians say popular songs are not the only ones written down on paper. Many classical songs were published in music sheets and classical musicians performed even unfamiliar songs with these printed compositions.  (More...)
