The album dominated the U.S. retail markets sales in May 16, where it sold over 500,000 copies in its first day in stores as according to a survey of retail outlets. This feat broke the previous SoundScan record for the highest album sales in its debut week by any solo artist, thus announcing Spears as the fastest selling female artist in the country. The album also contains Britney's first writing credit on one of her albums, for "Dear Diary". Britney Jean Spears (born December 2; 1981) is an American singer-songwriter; dancer and actress.
