The album dominated the U.S. retail markets sales in May 16, where it sold over 500,000 copies in its first day in stores as according to a survey of retail outlets. This feat broke the previous SoundScan record for the highest album sales in its debut week by any solo artist, thus announcing Spears as the fastest selling female artist in the country. The album also contains Britney's first writing credit on one of her albums, for "Dear Diary". Britney Jean Spears (born December 2; 1981) is an American singer-songwriter; dancer and actress. Born in McComb; Mississippi and raised in Kentwood; Louisiana; Spears first appeared on national television as a contestant on the Star Search program in 1992 and went on to star on the television series The New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993-1994.
