The song received mostly positive reviews from critics who noted that the track showed the strength in Aguilera's vocals but it lacked the same dynamics as her earlier ballads. The song was not commercially successful in the United States, missing out on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but the song's Hex Hector/Mac Quayle remixes managed to top the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
