Michael wrote the song in response to his mother, Katherine, who requested a song with “a shuffling kind of rhythm." The music video for "The Way You Make Me Feel" depicts Michael Jackson chasing a woman (actress Tatiana Thumbtzen) across the street. They return with friends across the street.
