Conference of the Birds (ver. 1) by Dave Holland - Piano Sheets and Free Sheet Music

About the Song
Conference of the Birds is a 1973 album by the Dave Holland Quartet. It is jazz bassist Holland's second collaboration with composer and saxophonist Anthony Braxton, as well as his second album on ECM Records. The Penguin Guide to Jazz selected the album as part of its "Core Collection," and gave it a rating of four stars (of a possible four).[1] Jazz critic Michael G. Nastos called the album "[Holland]'s finest hour" and "definitive progressive music."[2] The album's title is taken from the 12th-century Persian poem of the same name by Farid ud-Din Attar, an allegory about the quest for enlightenment. The liner notes describe how birds would congregate each morning outside Holland's London apartment and join with one another in song.[1] Dave Holland (born October 1, 1946) is a British jazz bassist and composer who is a significant representative of avant-garde jazz. About the Artist
Dave Holland (born October 1, 1946) is a British jazz bassist and composer who is a significant representative of avant-garde jazz. Born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, Holland learned to play bass as a child, and spent three years studying the instrument at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He was discovered by Trevor Oerton, one of the midlands top musicians of the day and became a member of his band. By 1967 he was a regular player at Ronnie Scott's, the premier jazz club in London, backing visiting musicians. He was also involved in the London free improvisation scene around the drummer John Stevens, and performed on the Spontaneous Music Ensemble's classic 1968 album Karyobin. That same year, Miles Davis and Philly Joe Jones heard him playing at Ronnie Scott's, and Jones told Holland that Davis wanted him to join his band (replacing Ron Carter). Davis left the UK before Holland could contact him directly, and two weeks later Holland was given three days' notice to fly to New York for an engagement at Count Basie's nightclub. He arrived the night before, staying with Jack DeJohnette, a previous acquaintance. The following day.

Depending on what musical composition the sheet music is for, the musical notes written will also differ. Most people have a wrong notion that it is only the popular compositions, which have recorded onto sheet music piano. However, several unfamiliar compositions have also been recorded using sheet music.  (More...)
