Staind (pronounced "stained") is an American rock band from Springfield, Massachusetts, including lead singer/guitarist Aaron Lewis, lead guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist/vocalist Johnny April and drummer Jon Wysocki. Over the past nine years the band has recorded six studio albums, had multiple chart topping singles, and sold over 15 million records worldwide.[citation needed] "It's Been Awhile [sic]" is a power ballad off the album Break the Cycle by the alternative metal band Staind.
The song is probably the band's most well-known song, becoming a Top 40 Hit (#5) on the Billboard Hot 100. The song spent a second-best 20 weeks at #1 on the Mainstream Rock Chart (behind only "Loser" by 3 Doors Down) and a then record of 16 weeks on the Modern Rock Chart beaten in 2007 by Foo Fighters with The Pretender. The song is about singer Aaron Lewis's life and about how it's been a while since he's done a lot of things. He makes references to his previous drug addiction problem and failed relationships with several women. He mentions his father however he believes he only has himself to blame for his problems.Staind (pronounced "stained") is an American rock.
