Mark Alan Lowry (born June 24, 1958) is a Christian comedian, songwriter, and singer. Lowry has performed with the Gaither Vocal Band. He has recorded eleven albums, both music and comedy. The best known song written by Lowry is the Christmas song, Mary, Did You Know. Mary, Did You Know? is a Christmas song with lyrics written by Mark Lowry in 1984 and music written by Buddy Greene six years later.
The song has been recorded by many diverse artists, including Christopher Parkening & Kathleen Battle, Gary Chapman, Spoken, Reba McEntire, Michael Crawford, Natalie Cole, Brian Littrell, Clay Aiken, Kimberley Locke, Kathy Mattea, Kalan Porter, Clay Walker, Donny Osmond, Michael W.
