She first came to public attention in 2004 after winning the Dutch version of the reality TV contest Popstars as part of the short lived girlband Raffish. In 2009 the singer embarked on a solo career. Simons grew up in part of a family from a long line of musicians with a pianist-father, trumpeter step-father, and vocalist mother. She has been playing piano and composing since she was a small child and graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
