Piano notes and music reading
No language is easy to learn except for our mother tongue. Mother tongue is a language which we start learning as soon as we are conceived. But learning some other language can be difficult if you are really not into it. Piano Notes are written in a completely different language. Agreed that the characters in the piano notes are very artistic and beautiful but they are equally strange to beginners and newcomers. But here is one interesting fact. Learning music reading from a piano notes music sheet is not a very difficult task. Actually it is much easier than learning a foreign Asian language like Chinese. Memorization and repetition are the two main ingredients for success in mastering the language of piano notes. So realistically speaking, once you are done reading the basics, all you have to do is practice the language as much as you can. To say in a very classical tone, practice till each and every note starts running through your veins.

To start off with music reading, one of the most basic characters in piano notes is called as the staff -- the system of five lines and four spaces upon which musical notes are organized. In music notation, at the far left of a staff you will always see a clef, which is basically a symbol that indicates how the piano notes on the staff should be read. .
.
Now, coming to clefs, there are numerous clefs in piano notes. But as we are talking about basics here, the two most commonly utilized clefs are the treble clef and the bass clef. The treble clef is usually used to notate the first few octaves to the right of Middle C, while the bass clef is usually used to notate the few octaves to the left of Middle C. .
.
Returning to our discussion on staff, the successive lines and regular spaces represent ascending notes of the scale. And this is independent of the clef being utilized. For example, in the treble clef, the lowest line represents E. Thus, the space just above the lowest line represents F, the line just above that represents G, the space above that is A, and so on. .
.
When doing the music reading of piano notes, you must have surely seen a backward ‘S’ with a few extra curly-cues thrown in, and centered on the second line up. Well, this is nothing but your treble clef. The note reading of this is as follows-‘ The five lines, from bottom to top, stand for E G B D and F, while the four spaces stand for F A C and E.’ .
.
The bass clef, which looks like a backwards "C" with two dots around the second line from the top, has this configuration: The five lines stand for G B D F and A, while the four spaces stand for A C E and G. .
.
Frankly speaking, the knowledge of piano note music reading is so vast that a complete book can be written on it. Here only the two basic concepts of note reading- the staff and the clef have been mentioned here. Learning to read piano notes is like taking baby steps. You will grow with each step. .
