About the Song
"Apocalypse Please" is a single by the English rock band Muse from their third studio album, Absolution. The single, a live version of the album track, was recorded at the band's headline performance at Glastonbury. Like Stockholm Syndrome, Apocalypse Please was released as a download only single, except this time all the profits made went to charity. A live video of the band performing the song was made available. "Apocalypse Please" is characterised by martial percussion and crashing piano chords, to create an intense and violent mood, encouraged by lyrics such as the warning in the repeated chorus, "This is the end of the world". Apparently the song was originally a complex orchestral piece, until it was decided during pre-production to simplify it; its simplicity complements its energy and violence. An instrumental version of the song appears in the trailers of the films Unleashed (a.k.a..    Download this sheet!
About the Artist
Matthew James Bellamy (born 9 June 1978) is an English rock musician, who is best known as the lead member of the band Muse. His role in the band is that of main songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, and pianist. He possesses a tenor voice and is known for his use of the falsetto register. On 26 September 2008, the University of Plymouth awarded Bellamy an honourary doctorate degree in arts for his work in the field of music.[1] Bellamy's father, George, was the rhythm guitarist in the 1960s rock group The Tornados, who were the first British band to have a United States number one song, with "Telstar".[2] "Knights of Cydonia", a single from Muse's fourth album Black Holes & Revelations, is often cited as a tribute to that song, with its space rock sound and accompanying video depicting a cowboy's quest through an alien landscape. Bellamy's mother, Marilyn, was born in Belfast, and moved to England in the 1970s. On her first day in England she met George, who was at the time working as a taxi driver in London. They moved to Cambridge, where Matthew's older brother Paul was born, followed a couple of years later by Matthew himself. Bellamy started playing.
